Headings indicate the start of a new section in a writing project, so a section label will automatically be added with a Heading object when you add (+) a Heading. To a create a lower level heading (e.g., level 2, 3, 4, or 5), move a heading section into an existing section. Tips When you hit ENTER while in a heading, a new paragraph will be added. A caption is an automatically numbered title that accompanies an image of some kind where the number belongs to the image series. For example, a table, a figure, a chart, a map, or an exhibit. Tips 1. The caption running title is the formal title for the image and will appear in the smart list (e.g., The Mona Lisa) 2. The caption labe l indicates the image series (e.g., table, figure, chart, exhibit, equation)

The Indentation Menu in Style allows you to indent/outdent: Indent button: move text to the right 1 cm with each click Outdent button: move text to the left 1 cm with each click Indentation type = First Line: this choice only indents the first line. That is, subsequent lines start from the margin. Typically, this setting is used for Paragraph settings. Indentation type = Hanging: this choice does not indent the first line,; it indents all subsequent text. That is, subsequent lines are indented from the margin. A legend is a footnote used in an Image and will appear directly under the image (as opposed to the bottom of the page). A legend can be used to Add a long description about the image, identify special aspects of the image, and include a reference to indicate the Source of the Image (if it is not your own). Tips & Tricks The reference to your Image can be added into the Legend. After you choose the image, click on it and you will see the button to Add Legend. A long quote (often referred to as a block quote ) is a special paragraph that is used for including a quote to another source that is generally more than 3 lines long. Quotes that are smaller than this, should be contained in the paragraph. This special paragraph can be styled different to a paragraph, often by indenting it and using a smaller font size. This 'highlights' the quote; that is, makes it stand out. Tips The reference to your quote can be added into the paragraph text above, or into the long quote object (usually at the end). Every Writing Object has an Object Handle . This handle can be grabbed using your mouse to move the object to a different location. As you move the object a white empty slot will appear as you drag it to your new location. Tips Wait until you see a white empty slot before letting go of the handle

When you insert a reference to a resource, you are generally required to pinpoint the exact location that you are referring to within that resource (e.g., the page number). Tips 1. Ref will be embedded in your text to indicate that you have inserted a reference to a resource 2. Hover over the Ref link and click Edit to change or add the pinpoint location 3. If you are using footnote or endnote referencing, the pinpoint can be added by first inserting a Footnote , add a reference, and then add the pinpoint text you require within the footnote
